Alison Hughes
About / Bio

Alison graduated from Manchester Royal Infirmary in 1988, gaining a BSc in Physiotherapy. She worked within the NHS & Private Practice until 1995 where she was clinical specialist in Rheumatology Out-Patients, also gaining experience in orthopaedics & hydrotherapy.

Since leaving the NHS she has worked at Wrexham Physiotherapy Clinic and is now employed as Practice Manager. Alison also provides a service for a local GP practice and has experience in Occupational Health. In addition she is recognised as an expert witness for medico-legal report writing.

She was employed as a Physiotherapist to Wrexham Rugby club from 1992 until 2001, and provides a functional movement screening service for Wrexham Tennis Academy, working closely with coaches, players & parents. She has also provided physiotherapy cover for international tennis tournaments at challenger level. More recently she has been involved in screening, advising & treating athletes taking part in the Liverpool Marathon.

In 2014 she gained employment with M-Sport Ford World Rally Championship Team and has travelled extensively with them, providing a physiotherapy service for their drivers, co-drivers & support team of mechanics & engineers.

Outside of the clinic she has worked as a clinical assessor for Salford School of Physiotherapy, and more recently has lectured for 3 years in Exercise Therapy & Rehabilitation, on the Sports & Exercise Science degree course at Glyndwr University.

She is married with 3 children, enjoys theatre and music, cooking, dining out & socialising with friends.
